In 1950 in the small town of Alturas California, Rick Howland took his first look at life. From a very early age Rick took an interest in the outdoors. Growing up on a cattle ranch in Modoc County, Ca., allowed Rick to experience all that nature had to offer. After military service he studied machine, welding technology and metallurgy in Southern Oregon. Self-employment as a machinist, welder and fabricator followed for 20 years. In the early 1990's a tranformation from industry to a passion in art took place. Remembering the towering Warner Mountains as a child which sustained the life for all creatures and people who were privileged to live there, reflects his view of our beautiful world; a gift that nature has givin us.
In his art work the focus is to capture nature's gift for all who see clearly the true beauty of our natural surroundings. Rick along with his wife and life's partner Behr live in Southern Oregon where they pursue their passion for nature and their art with the world.
